This recipe is for two of the most amazing ladies I know, Sunshyne and Mo!! Hope you like it!! Don’t forget to send me pics of the finished product!
So, Sunshyne asked me to post a recipe for baked spaghetti. I was honored that she wanted me to do that for her, so I got to shopping! My favorite recipe for baked spaghetti is most likely a mish-mash of a lot of the recipes out there. I love going about this recipe as though I’m making a creamy lasagna. In fact, it should be known as creamy lasagnaesque spaghetti…maybe that’s too long of a name. Anywho, here’s the recipe!
You will need:
1/2 package of spaghetti (hubby loves angel hair so that’s what I used)
1/2 lb ground beef (or chicken or pork, whatever you like)
1/4 cup ricotta cheese
1 cup mozzarella
2.5 tbsp Parmesan
Optional: 2 oz cream cheese (1/4 package)
1/2 jar spaghetti sauce (or marinara)
2.5 Tbsp melted unsalted butter
Optional: 1/8 tbsp minced garlic
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Bring about 4 cups of salted water to a boil.
Place the spaghetti in the boiling water and cook for 2-3 minutes. You don’t want it crunchy but you also don’t want it fully cooked and mushy.
While that’s cooking, brown beef with a very small amount (1/8 tbsp) of minced garlic, season with salt and Italian seasonings.
Once fully browned, add in the spaghetti sauce.
Melt the butter in the microwave( it should be fully melted in 35-45 seconds.
In a bowl, whisk the egg. Drizzle the butter in slowly while whisking to avoid cooking the egg. It’ll thicken a little, that’s normal, just keep whisking.
Mix in the Parmesan cheese to the egg mixture.
Drain cooked spaghetti and pour in the egg mixture and the cream cheese. Mix thoroughly.
In the baking dish, place half the spaghetti mix in the baking dish.
Pour some ricotta over the top.
Then some mozarella cheese
Then half the meat sauce
Place the rest of the spaghetti on top of the meat sauce
Instead of mozarella, the next layer this time will be meat sauce
Cover with mozarella cheese
Spray some olive oil or non stick on a piece of foil
Cover and bake for 40 minutes
Remove from oven, take foil off and bake for another 15 – 20 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and a little browned.
